Obituary of Laurette Kohut
Laurette Kohut (nee Boudreau)
June 25, 1938 - September 24, 2019
Laurette passed away peacefully on September 24, 2019 surrounded by her loving children. Born in Plateau, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Jean Henri and Josephine Boudreau. She will be deeply missed by her 7 children, Mark (Baraby), Glen (Andrea), Bonnie (Allan), Louise (David) Francine (Sloyne), Darryl (Sarah) and Sharmain (Kevin); 8 grandchildren Jordan (Kyla), Torie (Hendrick), Britain, Chase, Tasjia, Madden, Jade and Maxwell; great-grandson Teddy; brothers Arthur and Gilles; sisters Linda and Giselle (Robert); sister-in-law Barb and numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Matt, her parents, brother Joe, brother-in-law Bernie and sister-in-law Janis. Laurette spent her early years working as a school teacher in Cape Breton, N.S., as a long distance operator for Bell Telephone in Montreal, as a sales clerk with Sears in Toronto, and later devoted herself to raising her children. Baptized in 1970 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, mom loved sharing her bible based hope for the future with all who would listen. She will be remembered by all for her selfless generosity, caring for the elderly and those in need. Her cooking and baking was simple, but always delicious and with seven kids to feed, there was always room for more at the table. She always had a story to tell, a French song to sing, and in her later years she enjoyed knitting, quilting, needlepoint, making puzzles or having a tea party with her grandchildren. Her children will hold onto precious memories of visiting Grand Beach, Madge Lake, berry picking, perogy pinching, her tremendously big heart and infectious laugh. She was like no other and will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
In Loving Memory
