Obituary of Jerry Wayne Rice

Jerry Wayne Rice of Regina SK, passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2019 at the age of 66. Jerry will be greatly missed by his wife, Donna; stepdaughter Kelsey Kilbach of Regina; daughters Melissa Rice, Amanda Rice (Mike Ervin) and Melinda Self (Bradley), and their mother Cheryl Rice; sister Paula (Shawn) McClain; 6 grandchildren Cameron, Carson, Morgan, TeShawn, Trinity and Tayten; and, all of Kansas. Jerry also leaves behind his close friends Dale and Jane Tharp. Jerry was born in Independence, Kansas, and raised in Fredonia, Kansas. After graduation from watch making school, Jerry started his lifelong career as jeweler, which he continued until his retirement. Jerry also worked for the Emporia Police Department and served a term as Mayor of Fredonia before moving to Canada. Celebration of Life will be held in Fredonia, Kansas with a private family burial at the Longton Cemetery, Longton, Kansas. The family would like to thank all those that provided excellent care to Jerry this past year, Dr. Indra Patel, the staff at the Alan Blair Cancer Clinic, the palliative home care team and in his final weeks the wonderful staff at Wascana Grace Hospice.
