Obituary of Wilda Doreen Miller
Wilda Miller peacefully passed away on December 11, 2019 at Pioneer Village in Regina, SK at the age of 97. Wilda leaves behind her three grandchildren, Kelly (Tammy) of Regina, SK; Charla (Scott) of Red Deer, AB and Darla (Jeremy) of Pennant, SK; as well as five great grandchildren Ace, Garret, Oakley, Quinton and Easton. Wilda also leaves behind two sisters Nina Dickie and Marie Steinley, as well as numerous half-brothers/sisters and nephews and nieces. Wilda was predeceased by her husband of sixty three years Stephen (Tickey) Miller; her only child, son Asa Miller; sister Elda Thorburn; and parents Ross Valentine and Eva (Haw) Valentine. Wilda was born on the Valentine Ranch, north of Pennant, SK on June 18, 1922. She was raised there with her three sisters, and attended and graduated from Valentine School nearby. She met Tickey Miller and they were married on November 15, 1944 in Rosetown, SK. They lived east of Kyle and made a living for themselves farming and ranching until their medical conditions forced them to retire to Swift Current then later to Regina. Wilda loved to cook and bake. It was more common for her to have guests for meals than not. When making bread it was never a loaf or two, it was always eight loaves or more at a time and they always seemed to disappear quickly. Wilda loved gardening and always maintained very large gardens (so much so that a chore horse with a one way plow was used to weed between the potato rows). Wilda had a great affection for animals, especially horses, of which she shared a very strong bond with her husband. She worked hand in hand with Tickey with harvesting and the many chores that needed to be done. Wilda also was very good at making quilts of which most if not all nieces and nephews can attest to. She enjoyed company and playing cards and in her later years travelling up north fishing and vacationing with friends. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Pioneer Village for their respectful and compassionate care. A Graveside Service will be held at Clearwater Lake Cemetery, North of Kyle next summer (when it’s warmer) with the time to be announced at a later date.
In Loving Memory
Wilda Miller
