Obituary of Katherine Opal Anderson

Katherine passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Katherine (Lucille) was the oldest of 10 children born on the family farm west of Craik. She is predeceased by her husband Ken; infant son Dennis; parents Eldon and Iva; sisters Ramona, Eileen, Jean, Doris and Amy; brother Duncan; sister-in-law Bernice; brothers in law Orval, Archie and Stan; and her niece Lesley. She is survived by her children, Mae (Murray), Roberta (Bill), Joan (Daren), Kenny, Diane, Tim and Christopher; brother Angus; sisters Mary and June; as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom left Craik and travelled to Winnipeg, MB to find work. There she met Ken, her husband of 61 years, and they married April 14, 1951. Mae, Roberta and Joan were born in Winnipeg. After leaving Winnipeg they moved to Regina where Kenny, Diane and Tim were born. Christopher joined our family in 1972 and was officially adopted November 9, 1987. Mom worked as a waitress and sales clerk, and then helped Dad run the delivery service business he started. She also bred and sold Chihuahuas, as well as participated in numerous dog shows. She enjoyed playing crib, canasta and bingo; going to Smitty’s Restaurant and visits with family. She was known for her red lipstick and nail polish. For the last 3 years mom resided at Noonan Villa in Regina where she enjoyed the company of the other residents and was fond of the care workers. She especially enjoyed her time with Nicole who was so very kind and caring. We will miss you “Lucy” Katherine and Ken will be buried together in the family plot at Girvin, SK. Interment details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Katherine’s memory may be made to the Lung Associate of Saskatchewan.
