Obituary of Garry David Blayone

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Garry Blayone on August 16, 2020 at the age of 70 years, after a brave and lengthy battle with kidney failure. 

 

Garry was predeceased by his parents Molly and John Blayone; his brothers Ken and Pat Blayone; and brother-in-law Dominic LaFontaine. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley; his children Kim, and Derek (Carmen); grandkids Kalan, Josh and Jayna; brother Randy (Karen) Blayone, sister Margie LaFontaine, sisters in law Skip Blayone and Donna (Jack) Sharp, brothers in law Lloyd (Judy) Sandercock, Eric (Debbie) Sandercock, and Barry (Kim) Sandercock; numerous nieces and a few nephews; great-nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

 

Garry was born in 1950 on the family farm outside of Balcarres. He married his high school sweetheart and they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary together. Throughout his life, Garry had been a butcher, farmer, bus driver, meat salesman for Intercontinental Packers, and courier for Hypor Genetics.  He made friends everywhere he went and loved to spend time visiting for hours with family and friends. 

 

Garry will always be remembered for his playful and unfiltered sense of humour, contagious smile, and his love of life. His absence will be felt by family and friends for a long time to come.

 

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Richardson for the incredible support and guidance she’s provided throughout the past 8 years, all the staff at the Hemodialysis Unit at RGH, and the amazing nurses in Palliative Care at Pasqua Hospital.

 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, kidney.ca.
