Obituary of David Cyril Pyas Fink

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 10, 2020, beloved son, father, brother and friend David "Finky" Fink passed away after a short, but hard battle with cancer.

Dave was born August, 1962 to Eleanor and Cy Fink in Regina, SK. He was the happiest baby that would never stop smiling and giggling; a trait that he would carry with him all his life. Dave grew up as the oldest of four children that always managed to find some sort of trouble, but he seemed to have a knack for not getting caught. A love for all things with an engine that was instilled in him almost from birth, ensured that most fond memories of him would involve standing around a car in some garage, having a beer, smiling and laughing. His obsession with classic cars was prolific and he could tell you exactly what make, model and year even with only a split-second glance.

Coupled with his love of cars Dave spent much of his adult life travelling the endless expanse of highways throughout North America. First, he explored Saskatchewan while working for the Department of Highways and then his world was expanded in his job as a tour bus driver. He was fortunate enough to visit each Canadian province and territory (save for Nunavut) many times over and traversed the entire United States, including the famous Alaska trips. Different souvenirs, keepsakes and sweet treats were always brought home. Sam and Lindsey still miss those Goo Goo Clusters.

Dave was a kind and generous soul that had a special talent for telling the best stories that would have everyone listening weeping with laughter, even if you heard it before. His own laugh was so infectious that it was impossible to be down in the dumps when around him. He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him, and that will be the thing we'll miss most of all.

Dave was predeceased by his father Cy and survived by his mother Eleanor; daughters Lindsey (Neilash) and Samantha (Brad); siblings Sonya, Woody (Kim) and Sandy in addition to a whole mess of nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Finky dearly.

A memorial gathering will take place in the Spring of 2021, date and location to be announced.
