Obituary of James Cornelius Neufeld
It is with sadness we announce the passing of James “Jim” Neufeld on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 78.
Jim is survived by his children: Jarrod (Megan) Neufeld, Teresa (Gary) Kendall, Deborah (Francois) Lachance, Rebecca (Jon) Foster, Heather Speers, and foster son, Joshua Stewart; grandchildren: Nathanial (Maria) Neufeld, Austin Neufeld, Beau (Jessica Steer) Overby, Shayna (Samuel) Osazuwa, Gabrielle Lachance, Alexa Lachance, Luc Lachance, Maroah (Ryan) Lowry, Cole Foster, and Elise Foster; great-grandchildren: Alex and Samuel Neufeld; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents: John and Hulda Neufeld; siblings: Mavis Nickorick, Harvey Neufeld, and Pearl Greenhous.
Jim was born in Saskatchewan and was raised in small, rural communities that were rich with his Mennonite heritage. He was once married to Karen (Casson) Bayley, with whom he raised five children, his foster son, and several other foster children who temporarily resided in their home. The family lived in Moose Jaw, SK for many years and then in 1979 moved to Regina, SK, where Jim lived for the remainder of his life. Jim worked for most of his career as a draftsman, and later worked at Canadian Tire and Sears for many years before his retirement.
Jim greatly enjoyed the beauty of nature, and some of his favorite things to do were going fishing, going for drives in the country, and canoeing at Buffalo Pound Lake. He was good at fixing and building things, and had many creative, inventive ideas. Jim loved music and had a good singing voice, which he lent to church choirs on many occasions. He attended church faithfully at Harvest City Church until his health began to fail in recent years. In his retirement years, Jim loved to go out for breakfast or lunch with his buddies, and treasured his friendship with Larry Eddie, who rarely went a day without speaking to or getting together with Jim for a meal.
Jim passed away in his home and his family is grateful he did not experience prolonged suffering. We know that he is rejoicing to be at peace and to rejoin his parents and siblings in Heaven.
Due to Covid-19, there will be no service held at this time.
In Loving Memory
