Aldona......I am so very sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. I know that even when it is not unexpected it is still very difficult. I don’t know if you heard that Jim died at the end of January. I thought I had done most of my grieving during the previous year but not so. I know Amanda and Sarah and I are sharing lots of laughs (and tears) remembering Jim as he was before the Alzheimer’s took over. I hope you can find some solace in the memories you have of your years together. We always looked forward to seeing you guys at the Folk Festival each summer. My condolences to your family Aldona.

Brian was a "great guy" and one of those people you feel privileged to have known. I had the opportunity to work with him when he served as Facilities Chair for Rowing at the 2005 Canada Games. His engineering skills and scouting skills were integral to the success of the event, but his sense of humour and calm demeanor were invaluable. We have also had the privilege of knowing his wonderful family, who are a reflection and legacy of the person he was.

My sincere sympathy to Aldona and the family. I have great memories of Brian, as he cared deeply about his work and more so for those that he worked with. He wanted everything to be right and that made him a great engineer. He accomplished so much with SaskEnergy, a good leader and well respected among his peers. I always appreciated his helpfulness which he provided often to me. It was nice to hear Brian through his obituary.

My heart aches for Brian's family Aldona, children and grandchildren. I was so lucky to get to work for Brian at TransGas and learned so much from him! He was so personable and would always ask the questions us junior engineers often wanted to ask but didn’t want to admit we didn’t know. He had the greatest laugh and it could be heard often from many offices away. He will be greatly missed!!

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Brian. We met Brian, Aldona and family through the Harriers Track Club. As often happens, you see the parents almost daily when your kids are in the same activity. Then that contact is gone when the kids move on. The lasting impression of Brian is that he was a " really good guy" and that is reflected in his entire family. Our deepest sympathy.

My condolences to Brian’s family, near and far. Was just sent this news from another Yorkton friend. My heart was lighter as I read Brian’s words. It sounds like he lived life to the full, loved well and left an adventurous and green footprint. When I think of Brian and see his picture, I will be reminded of his words.

Condolences to Aldona, Stan, Anna, Iris and family. I worked with Brian for 26 years and these are a smidgen of my memories: Spring skiing with Brian and Aldona at Ochapowace, running cycling and canoeing at the Rota - athon on Canada Day, Brian teaching me technical mountain biking at the old Snowasis, and Brian as the track star he was encouraging me (the wannabe) during my races. Brian's positive outlook and love of life made it so easy to be his friend as he inspired everyone around him.

To Aldona and family. Blair sent me the news of Brian’s death. It’s strange. I felt both incredible sadness and incredible gratitude at hearing of his passing. Sad because, by my measurement, he died far too young but also gratitude for all the memories that came back of the times we shared during those cocky, invincible early years. Most of the stories I recall that make me shake my head, or put a big smile on my face probably don’t reflect the successful family man that Brian became, but suffice it to say that if those bib overalls he wore for all the summers we spent building prefabs for Beaver Homes could talk .... They really were the free range years and I have to believe the humour and good times we all shared made a contribution to the graceful, generous and dignified life he led and the death he embraced. To you, Aldona, to Mya and Keith, to Brenda and Ward, and all your families we offer our sincerest condolences. To you, Brian ... sail on my friend. Now you finally have time to sow up the crotch of those overalls.

My deepest sympathy Aldona. Brian was a good friend and amazing character. I have happy memories of 314 Cumberland Avenue where Brian often slept with a hockey stick in case Doug Hancock’s snake got out of its cage. We had some great times and brilliant parties. I will miss running into him and yourself at Waskesiu and his totally contagious laughter. Lynn and I will always think of Brian and yourself, say hi to Mya and Keith.

I had the pleasure of working with Brian for many years at SaskEnergy. Years ago I was in a Leadership Development Program and I remember my old boss (Harvey Fedyk) asking me if I had picked a "mentor" which was one of the requirements of the program. He said if you haven't picked one I have a great one for you, his name is Brian Torgunrud. I said absolutely as I always had such high regards for Brian as he was such an interesting and down to earth guy. From there on we would either meet in person or conference call a couple of times a month, this went on for about a year. Brian would listen to my thoughts very patiently and he always seemed to be able to put things in perspective for me, so grounded and genuine.....great recommendation Harvey! Brian was a regular visitor to our Success Compressor Station. I have many fond memories of work and non-work related discussions with Brian on the deck at the Success Station Office. We will certainly be planting a tree in our "little park" north the deck this spring Brian in your honor my friend.

That is what made you special. I am so sorry for your families loss. I will do my part to work on this climate thing while I’m here. I loved you lots. Great, great obituary. Hugs. Harvey
