Obituary of Richard Albert Miller
Richard passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 7, 2021, age 89, at the Pasqua hospital.
He is fondly remembered by his wife, Winnifred; daughters Twyla (Ed) Meredith of Regina, SK, and Shawna Miller of London, U.K.; granddaughters Dr. Megan Meredith (Luke Wollbaum) and son Modano of Regina, SK, and Christina Meredith-Flister (Larissa) of Regina, SK; sisters Emma Smith, Swift Current, SK, Viola (Dan) Jespersen of Edmonton, AB and Verna Eldred of Vancouver, B.C.; sisters-in-law Shirley (Jack) Howard of Vernon, MB and Eleanor Keller of Melville, SK; brother-in-law Gordon Steffen of Melville, SK; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Richard was born on October 14, 1931 and grew up on a farm in Kelstern, SK. He received his elementary education in Kelstern and went to high school in Herbert, SK. After moving to Regina for work, he met Winnifred at a church youth group, and they were married on October 16, 1955. His career was mostly in the financial industry, and in addition he was the first lab/chem technician at Buffalo Pound Water Plant and was also a writer and weatherman at CKOS TV in Yorkton, SK.
Richard loved nature and animals, always with a pocketful of treats for the family pets and spent many enjoyable hours of his later years in his backyard listening and watching the birds and squirrels. He enjoyed singing and sang bass in quartets and choirs and was very fond of southern gospel music. He also enjoyed skating well into his seventies, and cheering for his favourite teams, the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, and Roughriders.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Maria Miller; sisters Selma Miller, Frieda (Otto) Biech, and Anne (Jake) Letkeman; sister-in-law Emily Steffen; and brother-in-law Elmer Keller.
A huge thank you to the staff of SK Home Care and Emmanuel Villa Care Home.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private family internment at the Riverside Memorial Park. Donations in Richard’s memory may be made either to Souls Harbour or to the charity of your choice.
In Loving Memory
Richard Miller
