Catherine was a most admirable woman. She profoundly influenced my life. She was an astounding example of the power of one. He time in Hamilton (and later Brantford), and in Hamilton Quaker Meeting gave me an opportunity to know what a mighty woman she was. Many of the issues that I care about and take action on today were inspired by Catherine. Over many meals at her and Arthur's home in Westdale, and later staying with them in Regina, I learned what it truly is to 'walk the talk' -- of which Catherine is the best example I know. A woman of passion and integrity. May her spirit live on

I still remember what a joy it was to meet Catherine years ago when she came to see me for health advice. I'm pretty sure that I learned more from her than she did from me! I still use her as an example when I try to explain to other patients that age is only a number. She was, quite objectively, one of the most vibrant, passionate and compassionate women I've had the pleasure and honour of knowing, and I know she will be greatly missed.

My memories of Catherine concern her time in Brantford, when I was serving as minister to Harmony United Church. I think of Catherine as a dynamo. It seemed that she was part of every social and environmental issue in the city, and I marveled at her dedication and energy. There were those who resented her activism, but she simply smiled and carried on. We need more people like her!

What a wonderful woman we have all lost. In all the time I lived in Regina, I cannot remember a time she didn't inspire us all. Merran Proctor

I first met Catherine at Hamilton Quaker Meeting in the 70s and recall her as a warm and energetic presence. When I picture her, whether in Hamilton days or later on a visit to Regina, I always see her smiling and in bright sunlight and can almost hear her soft but firm voice. Yet another inspiring elder gone!

Such a diminutive and self-effacing person, Catherine was 'small but mighty' — a powerhouse of passion and purpose, who did more good, effected more change, and made more positive difference in the world than most people can even imagine. She lit my fire for countless things. I admire her more than I can possibly say.

Great and wonderful memories of a wonderful lady. My thoughts of her are so expansive, that words cannot express my deep love and appreciation of her. My deepest condolences and love to all.

I am a better person for having known Catherine. Fondest memories came when she attended some Forever in Motion classes that I led; I am so pleased that I got to know her better during that time.

Catherine was a staunch supporter of Regina Seedy Saturday, an event I organize. She was always interested in learning more about gardening, and her beloved bees. She was an amazing advocate and a wonderful role model. She was always interesting to talk with, and ever encouraging and supportive. She will be missed from our gardening community.

If there is one person in this world that I knew I could speak with at length about the state of this world, social action, what is being done and what needs to be done, one person who was always ready for discussion, a loving mentor, never saw me as "too much", always encouraging me to keep going, it was my Aunt Catherine. What precious times. I love knowing so much more about her than even before, from these loving memories, this documentation of one of Canada's most important activists. I miss her already but will always be grateful for the times throughout my life that I was able to spend time with her.

I feel humbled and in awe of Catherine’s life accomplishments. She had a great impact on her family, friends, community and the world. She taught us so much in her quiet, humble manner. She will be missed but so much of her work and values will carry on in her children, grandchildren, friends and family. Louise
