I was thinking of Clarence today and discovered to my surprise his obituary. Having now watched your family’s funeral video, I have been gifted by all of you with an unexpected Christmas present, feeling rich in having witnessed all the love you share.
Clarence and my Dad John Kutarna shared a friendship with one another, a love of fixing things, a Polish heritage and even the same moustache & distinctive hairline!
I knew from a young age that Dad was in the garage visiting with Clarence when the Snap-On truck was parked outside. I can hear Mum putting the coffee on…Even after my parents deaths, when I would see Clarence, he (and Bev) would stop to chat when we’d meet. It always took me aback, the physical similarity between him and Dad.
One of those times was at a church rummage sale when my son was very young. As we visited, my eyes were darting around the room tracking my son in the big crowd. Noticing my anxiety, he dropped his wisdom bomb on me by saying reassuringly: « In my experience, if someone were to take your kid, they’d also have to feed him, so I don’t think you have to worry so much! »
I suppose it was that warmth, wisdom and humour that brings his memory into such sharp focus and tugs at my heart too.
My sincere best wishes to you all and thank you for celebrating so tenderly your Dad and husband.
Happy Christmas!
Theresa Kutarna

We met Clarence just a few short years ago and our family grew to adopt him as a member of our family very quickly. A love of prairie vintage and looking for bargains at yard sales and auctions was our common thread. Clarence had an uncanny ability to see value in things which appeared rusty and useless, but that made him the ultimate recycler and reconditioner for many of our projects. If you know his outbuildings, you will be aware that Clarence knew where every screw, tool and gear could be found. Some things were recorded on paper, but mostly he held the information in his head. Amazing! A trip to the trailers was always an adventure, and he would spin yarns the entire time while digging through the piles. We all became attached to him because of his gentle good natured teasing that he bestowed equally on everyone in the room. Our fondest memories of Clarence will be of him sitting at our dining room table, drinking coffee and trying out new Filipino recipes. all the while laughing and telling corny jokes with that mischievous smile. Clarence, we are missing you already. Love Geneveive, Dave and Maximus Morton.

Sending my deepest condolences to all who knew him.
As a young city kid, a family trip out West was like another World. Uncle Clarence was more than pleased to show off the homestead and in particular his "collection" of cars bikes and implements. He would recall many a story related to the buy, the current status of the repair....and what he could sell it for. He had a photographic memory of where things were kept and catalogued. When I asked him what he would do when he ran out of space...he said " we can always build another shed"
To this day i admired his desire, skill and drive to fix things especially in the consumable world we now live.
My wish is he is now at peace and his family is being watched over.
Love from Toronto

Steve and I are very sorry for your loss. We have many good memories of time spent with your family starting with “the barn”. I am sorry we have somewhat lost touch over the past couple of years as our families and responsibilities have grown. However you have remained in our thoughts and prayers always.

Deepest condolences to Bev and the Family. Clarence was a lucky man to have Bev by his side for all those years. I first met Clarence in the late 80's playing with old motorcycles. We spent hours on the phone talking old Harleys and Indians. I will truly miss those phone calls. A visit to the farm was like visiting the Smithsonian Museum. You needed days to see his collection. My most memorable trip with Clarence was to Davenport, Iowa in his truck going to the biggest Motorcycle swap meet in the land...listening to Charli Pride all the way..
