Obituary of Wilhelm Walther Karl Lange

Wilhelm “Bill” Walther Karl Lange November 23, 1916 – February 26, 2016 Bill passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the age of 99 years. Bill was born in Putbus (Rügen) Germany to Otto and Elisabeth Lange. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Erdmute Lange, and her husband André Koch Sr. Bill is survived by his 2 nephews André & Jan Willem Koch (wife Hanny Dentinger) of the Netherlands and his very dear friend Alice Gaveronski, Regina. Bill immigrated to Canada in 1951 & resided in BC for a time. Bill worked for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways for 22 years retiring at the age of 65. His love for Scouting and Guiding led him to be an avid member for over 70 years, both in Germany and in Canada. Bill joined Freemasons as a member of Wascana Lodge 2. Bill was a resident for 21 years at Prairie Place and 6 years at Fulton Manor, Regina. A huge thanks to Fulton Manor staff for their care. Many Regina residents will recall seeing Bill cycle all over Regina wearing his “lederhosen”. Bill enjoyed his Scouting/Guiding pen pals from all over the world, a love of the outdoors, astronomy and was an avid reader. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. James United Church Hall, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Bill may be made to “Wilderness Rendezvous-Cypress Scout Camp” c/o 26 Wilkie Rd. Regina, SK S4S 5Y2.
