Obituary of Lyle Gene Munro
The family of Lyle Gene Munro is sad to announce his passing on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in Regina SK, after a short illness.
Lyle was born May 1, 1932 in Armley, SK. In his early years he was an avid baseball and hockey player. He married the love of his life, Doris Schaerer, in Channing, MB on May 15, 1956.
Over the years Lyle worked at the Flin Flon Nickel mine, then they moved to Porcupine Plain to run the Shell gas station with his father. From there they moved to Allan SK where he worked at Allan Potash mine and then ended his working career as a maintenance planner with Cameco at the Wollaston Lake site.
Retirement years took Lyle and Doris to Creston, BC where they built their own home and Lyle kept very busy with projects around their acreage including building two go-carts, fondly named “Ketchup” and “Mustard”, to keep the grandkids busy when they came to visit. Dad could build or fix almost anything and in his later years became known among family and friends for his wood carving characters. In 2012, they moved to Regina, SK to be closer to family.
Lyle was predeceased by his wife Doris; his father Ian; mother Della; and brother Bob. Lyle is survived by his daughter Elaine, her husband Frank Verhelst and their four daughters: Angie Symes (Justin), Kate Kujaneck (Jacob), Laura McMurtry (Adam) and Cheryl Fieger (Aadon); son Bob Munro, his wife Gaylene, and their three children: Andrew Munro (Krystina), Leslie Sanders (Kyle) and Michael Munro (Cassandra Dyck). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren: Drake, Azalea, Isabelle, Zoey, Emily, Nola, Lucy, Piper, Felix, Dessa, Benjamin, Ethan, and Ryan.
Although we are saddened by our loss, we are grateful for the time spent with our father, grandpa and “Gpapa” and for a life well-lived.
Honouring Lyle’s request there will be no funeral service.
In Loving Memory
Lyle Munro
