Obituary of Marion May Currie
It is with sadness that the family of Marion Currie announce her passing on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the age of 92 years. Marion is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tammy (Greg) Dozorec of Regina, SK, Levi Soltys of Sturgis, SK, Kristi (Brent) Lindenbach of Rhein, SK, Travis (Joanna) Currie of Mackenzie, BC and Joshua (Jamie) Currie of McLeod Lake, BC; brother Melvin (Noreen) Schneider of Onanole, MB; great-grandchildren Brooke, Shelby, Jesse, Danika, Ciara, Jake, Jailin, Emersyn, Nixon, Brynlee, Emma, Natalie, Skylar, Truce and Austin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews
Marion grew up on a farm between Edrans and Firdale, MB. She attended grades 1-9 at Deer Range School and grades 10-11 at Minnedosa Collegiate. Marion taught school for a year in Forestville, 1946-47, and worked for 2 years in the Delta Apparel Sewing Factory in Portage la Prairie.
Marion had always known Amos Currie, and in June 1947, they started their lifelong journey together that would last until Amos’ death in 2009. Marion enjoyed quilting, knitting and celebrating the holidays and accomplishments with her “Great” grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Amos; children Lois and Bruce; and grandchildren Lori and Bruce Jr; parents Whilhemine and Henry Schneider; brothers John, Oliver, and Martin; and sister Lorena.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date in Edrans, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
