Obituary of Geraldine Johanna Ogrady

It is with sadness that the family of Gerri Ogrady announce her passing on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the age of 89 years. Gerri is lovingly remembered by her son Mark (Marla) Ogrady; daughter Lois (Doug) McGillivray; and son-in-law Tom Moore. She had ten grandchildren Erin Kruit, Jillian Corbett, Kristen Chang, Catherine, Scott, Megan and Michael McGillivray, and Maxwell, Taylor and Quinn Moore. Gerri was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren Sophie, Charlie and Luke Kruit, Jack, Logan and Sam Corbett, Ben Chang, Brynn Furneaux and Jahx Stadnyk. She was predeceased by her loving husband Nestor of 57 years; daughters Michelle Moore and Colleen Ogrady; parents Leon and Johanna Zurowski; along with three brothers and four sisters.

Gerri had an active life growing up in Southey, being the youngest of eight children. She loved to share stories of her time growing up, especially her time playing softball. Gerri met Nestor at a dance in Southey and they were inseparable after that. Mom would say her greatest accomplishments were the raising of her four children and was very proud of their accomplishments. Mom and dad loved to travel and explore many parts of the world after she retired as a bank lender. Mom will be missed by all who knew her.

A Private Family Memorial will be held to celebrate her life. A very special thank you to the hospital staff at RGH 3E and Grace Hospice for making her final days filled with grace and dignity. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society in her name.
