Obituary of Ruth Mildred Coles
Ruth Coles was called to her heavenly home on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Gordon Coles. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Judi (Jerry) Neudorf and their daughter, Atlanta; and Esther (Claire) Frostad and their children, Jessica, Ben, Sarah and Dylan; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Ruth was born in St. Boswells, SK and grew up on a farm near Glen Bain, SK. She moved to Regina in 1945 to attend Regina Bible Institute. It was there she met her husband, Gordon and they married in 1948. They pastored several churches in northern Ontario before going to India as missionaries. They spent 17 years in India where she and Gordon were involved in church planting and were members of the faculty at the Allahabad Bible Seminary. Ruth served in a variety of roles including social programs for women and children, secretarial duties and basic nurses aide. They returned to Canada in 1970 where they ran the regional office of OMS International in Hamilton and Calgary until they retired in 1989. The family wishes to thank the West Wing Staff at Sunset Extendicare in Regina for their excellent care and kindness to Ruth.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Sonlight Christian Reformed Church, 139 Cannon Street, Regina,SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Allahabad Bible Seminary where the family lived for many years. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will long be remembered for her love for the Lord and for the many lives she touched with her generous spirit and welcoming smile. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
