Obituary of Gerald Wayne Millen

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gerald “Gerry” Wayne Millen was greeted with anticipation by Jesus and son Trent on Sunday, April 16, 2023, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He met this battle as he lived: with determination, courage, and the strong relationships he had with family, friends, and God.

He is lovingly cherished by the love of his life, Susan, 37 years of love and romance will live in her heart forever; daughter, Sherice (Colin), who proudly wears the title of Daddy’s girl, Heather (Peter), who he wholeheartedly embraced as a daughter; sister Arlene; brother Neil (Dianne); siblings-in-law Deb and Bill; as well as treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Sherice, Trent, and Heather gave him many wonderful grandchildren (14) and great-grandchildren (13) who will remember him by his adventurous and mischievousness spirit.

Gerry was always on the move. We are sure he aged his parents, as well as Arlene and Neil! From day one, you never knew what to anticipate. Gerry was always on the move going somewhere, helping someone, or planning something. Delivering groceries and telegrams as a kid nourished his independent spirit. He owned a restaurant, rental properties, Cameo Homes Construction and Top Secret Shredding. Gerry drafted for an architectural company in Regina and Cranbrook BC, and then purchased and sold property for Sask Housing. He truly found his calling after purchasing a Home Inspections franchise, Global Property Inspections. Gerry thrived building it from the ground up over a 15-year period. This profession brought him great fulfilment, using his abilities to assist many people with one of their greatest decisions.

Gerry also found great fulfilment within his children and family. He felt that Sherice and Trent, were the best thing that he and his first wife Joan ever did. In 1983, God introduced him to a “quiet” Kindergarten teacher, Susan Stephens. It was a good thing she could handle kids because he was the biggest one ever! Gerry always said “growing old was inevitable, but growing up was optional”. What a whirlwind adventurous life they had. Through her, he was introduced to traveling the world, a wealth of new friends and family and most importantly a deep personal love from God. Together they built two warm and hospitable homes, one in Regina and the other, their cottage at Buffalo Pound.

They explored life and the world together arm in arm, England, Mexico, New Orleans, Disney World, a Disney cruise, several US states, Turkey, and their last one, a whirlwind tour of Cuba which they were SO glad they did, knowing deep down that something wasn’t quite right. (Susan often joked that something wasn’t quite right with Ger, you should have seen him before God got a hold of him). Being a big kid, he excelled as the coordinator of Westhill’s Kids Club for 13 years, introducing them to woodwork, crazy jokes and knowing that there is nothing boring about letting Jesus hold you through life.

God now holds him where he is greeted by many who have gone before, his parents Elizabeth and Telford; parents-in-law Dot and Sel; brother-in-law Ken; nieces Patty, Debby and Cindy; grandson Spenser; and his dear son Trent, who is proudly showing him the ropes along with his friend Bob.
