Obituary of Barry Dallas Hutton
Barry Dallas Hutton passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at the age of 67.
Barry is survived by a large family, his wife, Brenda Hutton (nee Shatkowski); three children, Angela Hutton (Steve Torgerson), Christopher (Laurie) Hutton, Mitchell Hutton (Natalie Wing); seven grandchildren, Natalie, Mitchell, Noah, Annabelle, Henry, Brynn and Barrett; two grandpuppies, Dewey and Rook; seven siblings, Craig (Jean) Hutton, Judy (Don) Love, Carol Hutton, Barb (Ray) Homeniuk, Sandy (Jon) Hofer, Pam (Ferd) Vicente and Jeff Hutton. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Margaret Shatkowski; sister-in-law, Sharon Buckingham; brother-in-law, Kevin Shatkowski (Janice); as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family and lifelong friends. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Dallas Hutton in 2011 and 1996; and brother, Bill in 1957.
Barry was always a kid at heart and loved being around babies and children. After a long career in food sales with Western Grocers and Campbell’s Soup, he went back to school to become a teacher’s assistant and worked with kids in the classroom. Barry constantly surrounded himself with children. Kids on airplanes would be entertained by finger puppets he would draw on his fingers; neighbourhood children would wake up to a lawn full of toy windmills; kids at family events could expect a fake eyeball to show up in their drink. Barry’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved spending time with them more than anything. Although some of his grandchildren lived far away, he even made Facetime calls fun with funny costumes and well-placed props in the background. The grandchildren that lived close by received endless snuggles, wacky adventures (like wearing horse and dog masks and driving around to “bark” at people), and plenty of play. When the children were not available (‘cause they had to go to school sometimes), Barry worked out at his hobby farm, picked up Dewey the dog for adventures and made sure to catch every cheesy old movie he could find.
Barry’s family is missing his warm smile, nightly good night texts, his corny Dad jokes and his general goofiness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
In Loving Memory
Barry Hutton
