Obituary of Hazel Amanda Weir
Death is a black camel that waits on our doorstep.
Sooner or later, each must ride the camel.
Born in Edinbridge, SK, a community northeast of Melfort, I was the third daughter of Will and Edna Green (nee Dean). I was predeceased by my parents; a sister, Blanche Payment; brothers Donald and Keith Green; and my husband, Walter Weir. I am survived by my daughters Laura Weir, Robin (Arnold) Endsin; three grandsons Stefan (Reanne), Matthew (Alison) and Alex (Natasha) Endsin; three great-grandchildren Liam, Kennedy and Henry Endsin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
I took my elementary schooling at Athol School, my high school at Gronlid High School and later attended Normal School in Saskatoon and education classes at the University of Saskatchewan. I taught before and after my marriage in Saskatchewan and Ontario. I loved teaching and was always interested in following the careers of my former students.
I actively enjoyed all forms of exercise. I loved swimming, water skiing, cross-country skiing, walking, yoga and aquasize. I was fond of entertaining, bridge and reading. I loved doing things with my family. My three grandsons greatly enriched my life.
Walt and I were fortunate to spend winter holidays in Mexico, Barbados, Europe, Scottsdale and Hawaii. The last being the favourite. Our cottage at Diefenbaker Lake was a happy summer place as well. I was an accomplished artist. For many years a member of the Prairie Artist’s Guild. This was a hobby I always enjoyed.
I did not go gently.
Those so wishing to make a donation in my memory can do so to the Regina Food Bank.
In Loving Memory
Hazel Weir
