1934 –2023

SHE IS GONE
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray she’ll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she’s gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on

With great sadness and sincere appreciation for 89 years of a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Edna “Teddy” Adaline Kalk, on Thursday June 22, 2023. Teddy leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Kim (Will) Antosh and Delee (Larry) Ast; son Pat (Carmen) Kalk; grandchildren, Ryan, Shaun (Amy), Kelli (Nick), Jennifer (Bob), Taylor (Terri), Carleen (Jake) and Kelsey (Cole); great-grandchildren, Yarah, Sierra, Henry, Oliver, Jane, Grayson and Jack; and special niece, Carol (Gil) Payette.

Teddy was born and raised in Indian Head, SK but spent the majority of her adult life living in Regina, SK. Throughout her lifetime, Teddy always showed a preference for the uncomplicated pleasures in life; such as a good book, a crossword puzzle, playing cards, listening to music and socialising with family and friends. Teddy also loved to travel having experienced vacation trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri and the Canadian Maritimes to name a few.

Teddy’s one accomplishment that she took great pride in was her 30-year career with SaskPower.

After her retirement, Teddy moved back to Indian Head where she spent the next 13 years reconnecting with family and old friends. During this time, she became an avid golfer and had a second chance to revisit the good times at Katepwa Lake that she remembered as a child growing up. Some of Teddy’s fondest memories were the times she spent with Kim, Will and their family at Clear Lake and her travels to British Columbia to visit with Pat, Carmen, Carleen and Kelsey.

Teddy’s move back to Regina was necessitated by her various health concerns along with the desire to get re-established closer to family. Over the next few years, the road she travelled wasn’t always paved with many detours along the way. Through it all, Teddy showed remarkable strength, courage and determination. Teddy’s wish to remain living independent but with some assistance motivated her move into the Revera Renaissance Senior Living Complex where she enjoyed the last six years of her life.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of unit 6F of the Regina General Hospital and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit 3A Pasqua Hospital for the kind and compassionate care given to Teddy in the final days of her life.

In accord with Teddy’s final wishes there will be no service. Her only ask of her family was for each to celebrate her life and to fondly remember her in their own individual way.
