Obituary of Leann Margaret Hoffarth

Leann Margaret (nee Haux) Hoffarth

November 3, 1966 – July 12, 2023 (age 56)

Leann was born in Fort St. John, British Columbia and spent her first two years there.

The Haux family then moved to Alameda, Saskatchewan and then to Carnduff, Saskatchewan in 1974. In 1977, the Haux family was on the move again to Shaunavon, Saskatchewan where she attended Shaunavon Public School for grades 6 to 8. She graduated Shaunavon High School in 1984.  In high school, she was a cheerleader and played volleyball and was also involved with the choral group.

After high school, Leann took Nursing at Medicine Hat College. In her second year, she got sick and came home.  Leann worked part time at the nursing home in Shaunavon before trying to finish her Nursing.

In the spring of 1987, Leann met David Hoffarth. She went to Regina for the R.N. program and David went to Calgary for Petroleum in the fall of 1987. 

Leann and David were married on September 2, 1989 and worked in Shaunavon until September 1990. They moved to the Calgary area for David’s work and Leann worked in the nursing home in High River. Leann and David moved back to Shaunavon in Summer of 1994, and have resided outside of Shaunavon since.

Leann is survived by her husband of 33 years, David; their sons John, Allen and Scott; father, Elmer Haux; sister, Loriann (Rod) and their daughters, Addison and Kayla; brothers, George (Chris) and their daughters Lexis, Sydney and Jada; Lonnie (Dyan) and children, Matt, Wyatt and Taylor; and Leigh (Jessica) and their daughter, Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her mother, Beverly (nee Brooks) Haux; grandparents, Ed and Bertha Brooks and Henry and Emma Haux;  and nephew, Tyson.

Leann was very generous with her time (and baking). Anything the boys were involved in, school or sports, she was there, usually with baking, to feed kids or donate to a fundraiser. When her sons joined the 4-H archery project and they needed another leader to keep it going, she “volunteered” David to teach while she did the organizing and paperwork. They were both involved with 4-H from 2007 to 2020 when Covid hit.

She loved to bake, for anyone, for any reason. Her cinnamon rolls and bun were the first to disappear at a bake sale.

Leann enjoyed the acreage life - the garden, canning, chickens, fresh eggs, the dogs and horses. She started hunting with David in 2010. They spent many enjoyable days in the field together.

Leann was loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. With too many close friends to mention.
