Obituary of Donald Douglas Neufeld

Donald Douglas Neufeld, age 87 of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, July 27, 2023.  He was born in Rosthern, SK.  In his late teens, Don left home to take the job of hired hand on a farm south of Milestone.

Fate brought him to the farm of Eddie and Jean Brown, where he met the love of his life - Iris.  Married in October 1961, Donald then farmed and worked in road construction until they moved to Sonningdale, SK in 1968.  Here they rented farmland and engaged in the community, making friendships that have lasted a lifetime. 

In 1972, Donald and Iris purchased farmland south of Lang and moved all their belongings and two children, back to where their journey began.  Don was the strong silent type, working dawn to dusk every day. For 30 years, he and Iris farmed, diversifying into pigs, cattle, chickens, and milk cows.  Dad loved his animals and especially his dogs and horses. 

In 2003, they sold the farm and moved into Regina, ready for a much-deserved retirement and a new community of friends.  Dad always loved playing cards and had a passion for poker which often took him and mom to the Casino several times a month.  They joined bridge clubs, went to dances, became involved in their seniors’ complex, and enjoyed the rest they both deserved. 

Today we said goodbye to the strongest man we know.  He was a man of his word, his handshake truly was his bond, and he was our rock.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Iris; son, Neil (Joanne) and Neil’s children Jenna (Cole), Denae (Kaden), and Nolan; daughter Nora (Ian) and Nora’s children Brandi (Broden) and Evan; along with many family and friends, too numerous to mention.
