No funeral service will be held at Séans request. A Celebration of Séans Life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Birminghams East, 2635 Star Lite Street, Regina, SK. Please note, that no minors are allowed. If attending, please reply to sfrcelebration@gmail.com.
Séan was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England in 1951. Séan joined the Royal Air Force in 1967 achieving the rank of Junior Tech. He met his first wife Catherine (Jane) while they were in the RAF. They immigrated to Canada in 1974 and started their family shortly thereafter. After being trained as a vehicle technician, Séan transferred his skills to where he owned and operated several businesses in Regina. During this time his first two children Michael and Matthew were born. During the 1980s, Séan was very actively involved with Wascana Lodge, achieving various ranks within the Masonic traditions, including Worshipful Master in 1986. One of Séan’s prized achievements was driving the double decker bus for tours at Wascana Centre. Séan loved telling stories to everyone about his boys, always a proud father. In 1994, Séan met his second wife Loretta where he became a father to Krista and Jeremy.
Séan liked to think of himself as a Seanchai (a traditional Irish story-teller). He made a large number of friends and acquaintances throughout the years, and loved telling stories to everyone who would lend him their ear. Séan loved to tell stories about his days in the RAF, Wascana Lodge, working at Regina Transit, his time as an automotive repair shop owner and mechanic, Pub stories, family stories, among many more topics.
After being in Canada for many years, Séan proudly became a Canadian Citizen in 2005.
After retirement, Séan enjoyed travelling, particularly back home to England in order to visit with family and friends. Séan had a deep love for his first home of England, and an equally strong love for his adopted home of Canada, where he lived for nearly 50 years.
The family would like to thank the Pasqua Hospital unit 3A and Dr. Johnson and Staff for their compassion and wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Regina Humane Society.
In Loving Memory
Sean Russell
