Obituary of John Owen Walter
With great sadness and great joy we announce the passing of John Owen Walter from this life to the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
John was born in Biggar, SK on January 10, 1932 to John and Grace Walter. He spent most of his early years in Humboldt, moving with his parents to Regina in high school. John’s greatest joys in life were committing his life to Jesus, marrying Marion in 1953, and spending time with his family. He was diagnosed with tuberculosis shortly after their wedding. John’s miraculous healing while in Fort San shaped his life. He was more than happy to share what Jesus had done for him to everyone he met.
John spent his professional career working as an auditor and accountant with the Saskatchewan Provincial Audit Office, Saskatchewan Health and in private practice. He always had a project on the go, from woodworking to gardening. John’s creative mind was always at work. He was a voracious reader and life-long learner, passionately researching subjects from CFL rules to wildlife, history, languages, and Bible prophecy, and kept a sharp eye on current events, all right up to the time of his passing.
John was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Marion. He is survived by his children Delaine (Dale) Allen of Regina, Dean (Sharilyn) Walter of Regina, Darla Jean (Dwayne) Redekopp of Regina Beach and Donna (Murray) Rosin of Regina; grandchildren Josh, Adrienne, Robyn, Morgan, Miranda, Derek and Danica; and great-grandchildren Kingston, Mavery, Duke, Harper, Daxton and Felix.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Avonhurst Pentecostal Assembly, 3200 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, SK.
