I was truly saddened to hear of the passing of Don Rae. I first met Don way back in 1979 when i was the assistant manger at the old Geno's (Dewdney/Albert). At that time he had a store in the Regina Inn Mall, i if remember correctly. Bought my first Beta Hi-fi VCR from Don. He would come in for lunch at Genos probably once a week. Favourite server, of course, was June.
When he bought Audio warehouse i would pay a visit every few weeks (worked at Golf's) just have a chat and sometimes to buy. Always gave me a few minutes of his time, no matter how busy he was. So knowledgeable and just downright sincere and genuinely friendly.
it was a pleasure to walk through those doors with all the great staff he had.
i regrettably missed the "come and go" at Audio Warehouse on Thursday. having not picked up the local paper in two weeks i was unaware of his passing. i would have loved to have talk to you June, even briefly.
if you want you can give me a call some evening (306-924-2329), just to hear your voice. was going to call you but in situations like this i understand that some people need time to grieve.
take care of yourself.

Don Rae was a very special individual who will be remembered and sorely missed by all. Don had an extraordinary ability to remember the name of everyone he met. He had a creative mind finding solutions to impossible Audio / Video issues; he always went the extra mile "while you are here" ... helping: an elderly lady move her fridge; dismantled an upstairs table so it could be transported down stairs around a corner; climbing onto a two storey roof in a freezing brutal winter snowstorm to shovel snowdrifts away from a buried satellite dish. Don appreciated being invited to stay for lunch, especially when enjoying Leeta Gooding's hamburger soup. The Estlin and Gray Communities were more than customers, they were his friends, many remember Don as the DJ at community events. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dear June, Stephanie, James, and grand children. I was so sorry to hear of Don‘s passing. I attended high school with Don and over many years I Enjoyed conversations with him during visits to Audio Warehouse. Through many years, I always found him to be very personable & friendly.
One of his employees in the past Shauwn Gibson was married to my daughter Annaliese previously he is still like a son to my wife and I. Shauwn was also always very fond of Don. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May our loving God Jehovah, embrace you in his love and may you find comfort in the loving words and thoughts from friends and family. May you also find reason to smile when you think of beautiful times spent together as a family with Don and may you also find a reason to smile when you think of the resurrection hope when you will see Don’s smiling face again!!
Sincerely, Lance & Debra Thomas

Our sincerest sympathy on the loss of Don. We have been long time customers of Audio Warehouse. We used Audio Warehouse because it was a local shop but Don was from the neighborhood. Have fond memories of Don and Stacy as DJ’s for dances at Ruth M Buck school. In the more recent years Wayne share many walks with Don in the neighborhood park. Knew Don was experiencing some health issues but the walks were enjoyable.
Take care.

It seems a lifetime ago when I first met Don working in the mall and over the past 50 years I have had many conversations and musical recommendations from him. He was always present with me even though people were waiting to have a bit of time with him. He gathered music for my husband’s celebration of life and made the day joyful as we listened to all of his favorites. Always a smile and kind words offered freely. I will take those memories with me. So sorry for his family’s loss. Warm thoughts for all of you as you move through this journey of love and loss.

I grew up down the street from Don, June, Stephanie and James. Our parents have been friends since they were young. We were all very close. A lot of my memories as a child have The Rae's in them. They were all like family. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Don. He would make us the best mixed tapes as kids, with the best music. He would always play our songs at the school dances, he would stand in line at the movie theatre just so all us kids could get seats and not miss a part of the movie. I remember going to Audio Warehouse as kids when it was closed and thinking it was so cool to be able to go in there when nobody else was there. He even picked me up from elementary school when I was sick and would drive me home, and gave me rides to school when I started high school. He was such a kind man, who was always happy to see you and catch up. He loved his family, and was so proud of them. Anyone who knew him always had the most wonderful things to say about him. June, Steph and James, I am so sorry for your loss, I am thinking of you all during this difficult time.

Don was a kind, and generous man that always greeted you with a smile. I worked at Audio Warehouse for years and he was the best boss anyone could ask for. Don would always make sure I had a Chai Tea and always served it with a smile. Shortly after starting at Audio Warehouse a secret Santa left a Christmas present under my tree. I was shocked and also grateful. I knew it was Don but of course he wouldn't admit to it. That's the kind of man Don was.
To the Rae family, I am truly sorry for your loss and will be keeping you in my thoughts through this difficult time.

We never knew Don before, but hearing all the stories we can tell that he was a very loving, caring man. The last year of caring for him, he was no different with dementia. He was still a very kind, caring man. Don was part of our extended family, whom we all cared deeply for. He always had a smile and offered what help he could. Up until he fractured his hip he remained the same guy we got to know. Kind, gentle, loving and a man that would never hurt a fly. Don you are truly missed and loved by your extended family. Rest Easy Don

We are so sorry for your loss, Don was one of a kind. We have missed him so much since his illness started. We used to talk in the phone frequently, had such good visits. He knew so much about everything, a person could talk for hours. He came out to our farm to do an install on some equipment, and we had such good visits. He was out here quite a few times, I would always make him apple pie with ice cream, he just loved it. I would always send some home with him, or would take him cinnamon rolls at the shop, he loved to share with everyone there. We used to call him Santa Claus because of his white beard. He just loved life, loved going to different places on installs, he love visiting. He loved his family and Audio Warehouse. We knew him many years and I have missed him so much. He will be missed by so many, and he will never be forgotten. He was one in a million!

So many memories from days gone by. We met in the summer of 1969, I think, at Transcona Park. Greg Clarke and Don were on the swings and yelling "Henry! Henry! Since that is is my real name I yelled back "What do you want?" It turned out they were yelling at a local dog named Henry. LOL. From then we were friends all through High School and beyond.....
Sherry and I wish to express our sincere condolences to the family. Will miss Don very much.

I’ll always remember Don’s unique sense of humour and the life lessons he loved to share during those Sunday brunches I was lucky enough to be a part of.
Don always had time for everyone; no matter if he was in a hurry (or had impatient kids in tow, not-so-silently willing him to stop talking) he’d make time to chat and was always genuinely happy to catch up and say hello.
He was absolutely one of a kind & always managed to put a smile on my face
