Obituary of Elsie Elizabeth Williams
To properly pay tribute to a beloved sister is never easy. How much of a sister's life can we really know. Her new neighbours, mother and daughter eulogized her as a "kind lady". That she was!
To her family and friends, she was very much an independent spirit who took pride in doing things her own way. She was a perfectionist in home and personal attire, receiving copious compliments for both. She enjoyed gardening, reading books on gardening, and watching entertainment shows, along with football and hockey games on TV.
Elsie worked as the executive secretary to the Deputy Minister of Highways for the Saskatchewan Government for many years, before retiring in 1984. This was just before the dawn of the computer age in offices everywhere. In retirement she loved gardening and decorating her house to perfection. With a keen eye for design and colour, that job was never completely finished.
Her great wish was to remain in her home until death, and that wish was granted. Elsie suffered a large stroke on September 28, and passed away September 30 in the General Hospital, shortly after her sister and niece left her side. She was 91.
Ralph Waldo Emerson writes of life:
For each thorn, there's a rosebud..
For each twilight--a dawn..
For each trial--the strength to carry on..
For each storm cloud, the sun..
For each parting--sweet memories when sorrow is done.
This is our eulogy to our dear sister, Elsie Elizabeth Williams.
In Loving Memory
Elsie Williams
