Obituary of Joe Roske
Joseph “Joe” Roske, late of Regina, SK passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the age of 87 years.
Joe is survived by his wife Lucy (nee Johnson) of 66 years; children: Marlin (Karen), Candace (Wes) Topal, Travis (Brenda), Charlotte (Edward) Datchko, Curtis (Jody) and Delsey (Ivan) Raffey; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Marian (nee Johns) Roske; and siblings Evelyn, Jean, Deanna and Jerome.
Joe was born on September 22, 1936 on the farm at Serath, SK. He spent a number of years on the family farm prior to moving to Regina. Joe attended High School at Balfour Tech in Regina.
Joe married Lucy on December 28, 1957 and started their life together in Southey, SK. He took over his father’s construction business - Roske Construction.
In 1975, Joe and Lucy moved to Hubbard, SK where they farmed, as well as owned Ituna Redi-Mix.
Joe was capable of doing numerous repairs on construction and farm equipment. He never shied away from a challenge. Many hours were spent in his shop.
Joe loved his black Angus cows and would often be seen feeding and checking on them.
After retirement from the farm in 2007 they moved to Regina, SK.
Joe loved a good game of chess, crib or 3-spot. If you were his partner in 3-spot you better be good. He also enjoyed his fishing trips to Northern Saskatchewan with family and friends. Joe enjoyed engaging in a ‘good’ political debate and being the voice of politics around the table.
Joe’s health started to fail in the past few years. In the fall of 2022, Joe was admitted to Pioneer Village and then moved to Parkside Care home in March 2023. The family would like to thank his caregivers, especially at Parkside for all their care and friendship to Joe this past year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joe to Canadian Heart Association or Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
Details regarding the final farewell will be announced at a later date.
In Loving Memory
Joe Roske
