Obituary of Darrel Henry Gelowitz

It is with great sadness that the family of Darrel Gelowitz announce his passing surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Darrel is lovingly cherished by his wife of 28 years, Sandy Gelowitz; brother Wayne (Ag); sister Marlene (Bruce); daughters Kristy (Allan), Tina (Tyson) and Tanya; and son Kevin (Tanya). Darrel also had 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents Tony and Evelyn Gelowitz.

Darrel loved his sports teams, especially the Blue Jays and the Riders, and would sit with Sandy all day watching them together if he could. As the lead singer of Route 66, his band, Darrel's love of music and playing his guitar will be missed by many. After several years of work at Sysco Foods Darrel retired to spend his life in Fort Qu’Appelle and spend more time with the ones he loved most.

We will truly miss him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Legion, 197 Company Avenue, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a get together later at the house.
