It is with great sadness that the family of Lydia announces her passing surrounded by her family at Wascana Grace Hospice on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 84.
Lydia was born to Jacob and Mary Temple on April 9, 1940 at the family farm in Goodeve.
Lydia’s memory will be cherished by her four children, Darwin (Vanessa), Dennette (Bob) Hungle, Delee (Raymond) Sawa, and Donean (Scott) Horbal; ten grandchildren, Jared (Sunny), Tristan (Jessica), Chelsea (Kenny), Chandra (Alex), Darrick, Alexa (Austin), Evan, Kennedy (Matt), Nicholas and Eric; and five great-grandchildren, Joey, Alison, Nate, Nolan and Talia. She is also survived by her sisters Eleanor (Henry) Bohay and Gladys (Dennis) Mattern; brother and sister-in-law Ernie and Karen Bonk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was predeceased by her first husband, George Rathgeber in 1965; and her second husband, Allan Bonk in 2009; brothers Peter, Alfred, Matt, Arnold and Rheinhold; and sister-in-law’s Christine, Helen, Erna, Janet, Helga and Leisa.
The family would like to thank all of her doctors and nurses that gave her the best care we could have hoped for when she was in unit 4B at the Pasqua Hospital, especially Amy, and also all the wonderful nurses at Wascana Grace Hospice where she spent her last week.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina, SK with reception to follow. A private family Interment will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lydia’s name to Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina. SK S4R 8P6.
