Dear family who got left behind,
I got to live with John (and the Jansen/Doerksen family of course) when I came to Canada in 2012 to stay with my extended, far related family for a year.
John welcomed me with open arms and made sure that I got to enjoy lots of great Canadian barbeques and always had enough wine to drink. :-)
Most morings before heading out to work we had coffee together and shared nice, little talks.
When I came to Canada the very first time to do an internship abroad (I think in 2010), he even took me on a trip out west for a week and showed me all the great things Canada has to offer.
Although he always had to share his bathroom with me (as I always stayed in a room downstairs), which I think might have annoyed him a bit secretly :-D, he was still so generous to let me use his most favourite, precious armchair in the living room. That was definitely a great honor for me! Not a lot of people where allowed to use it, besides the dogs of course :-)
I will always remember John as the kind and special man he was!
