Obituary of Del Thunberg
William Delmar “Del” Thunberg passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice. He was born, along with his twin brother, Donald, in Rouleau, SK on May 11, 1930.
Del’s family farmed in the district. He received most of his education at Gosmil School. In 1945, the family moved to the Tregarva district where he attended Reynoldton School. Del also spent several winters at a church related Bible College. Del married Martha Leone Irvine on October 11, 1952, and they lived in the Regina, Lumsden and Tregarva districts throughout their lives. While mostly farming, Del also spent time as a grain elevator agent and as a craftsman in the building trades.
Del was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Dora (nee Peterson); sisters, Frances Martin and Alice Streight; and infant grandson, David Jordan Thunberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Leone; son, Randel (Ulla) Thunberg; daughters, Colleen (Duane) Schindel, and Pamela Rodriguez; grandchildren, Kyle Thunberg, Paul (Kristina) Thunberg, Jayden Schindel, Spencer Schindel, Jaclyn (Brendan) Polson, Rebecca Thunberg, Hannah Rodriguez and Levi Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Maggie Thunberg and Max Thunberg; brothers, Donald (Vi) Thunberg and Paul (Pat) Thunberg; as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
A gathering in his memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK. .
