Obituary of Nell Serediuk
Nell Serediuk
March 8, 1933 – June 20, 2024
On June 20, 2024, Nell “Nellie” Serediuk of Regina, SK passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
Nastia “Nell” Serediuk was born on March 8, 1933 in Arran, SK to parents Teodor “Fred” and Warwara “Barbara” Serediuk who immigrated to Canada from Danzig, Poland on June 8, 1930 along with two young daughters, Helena “Helen” and Marja “Mary” and paternal grandmother Eliseweta.
Nell was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Barbara Serediuk; sisters Helen Maksymchuk and Mary Krakalovich; brothers-in-law Metro Maksymchuk, Peter Krakalovich and Henry Koch; infant nephew Ronnie Maksymchuk; nephew David Maksymchuk; and nephew Larry Krakalovich and his wife Judy Krakalovich.
Nell is survived by her son Scott (Janet) Barclay; sister Elizabeth “Liz” Serediuk; nieces Sandra (Gary) Babin Graham and Barbara Hillstrom; nephews Bill (Pat) Maksymchuk, Dennis (Marie) Maksymchuk and Donald (Deb) Maksymchuk; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Nell was extremely generous and had a real firecracker personality. She was a wonderful aunt to her favourite nieces and nephews and a loyal friend.
Nell grew up on her father’s farm near Pelly, SK. She and Liz moved to Swan River, MB as young women to find work at the town theatre. After that, they moved together to Regina and lived in small apartments on Broad Street and on Rae Street. Nell moved to Rainbow Towers the year it opened and it was her home for over 50 years.
Nell worked at the Broadway Theatre for many years and then at Heinrichs Jewelers where she earned many awards for her excellence in sales.
Murray was a long-time friend in her life and Nell had many great adventures of travelling, hunting and fishing with him.
Nell also travelled to Honolulu for a month over 13 times and made many friends over there.
Nell was an avid berry and mushroom picker, which she enjoyed with her mom, sisters and their husbands. After Liz and Henry moved to Big River into a sweet cabin on a lake, she would spend many summers lying on their lounge chair by the dock, enjoying nature and having their dog, Buddy, by her side.
Her nieces and nephews can attest to an aunt who doted on each of them and enjoyed many fun times together, especially around the pool at Rainbow Towers.
Nell spent her last two years, along with Liz, in the Maire Manor nursing home in Regina where she was cared for and lovingly looked after.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date in a small cemetery in Maybridge District, SK.
Flowers will be gratefully declined.
In Loving Memory
Nell Serediuk
