My memories of Eldon started about 75 years ago when I was about 4 years old. He was my Sunday School teacher in Dummer Sask a lot of water under the bridge since then!. I also saw him and his wife at mission presentations in Parry several times.
I am also a distant relative to Eldon - our parents were first cousins. My mother was Mabel Nelson nee Tidlund,
Eldon will be missed by all who new him.

We feel so fortunate to have had Eldon and Luella as chosen family, and chosen grandparents for our kids! It was always a special treat having them come and celebrate birthdays with us. Grandpa Eldon was the best at games of hide-and-seek, building Lego, sharing movies, riding bikes, tips on vegetable gardening and tales from the farm. A beautiful human with an enormous heart, so much energy (!) and so many stories to tell. We were blessed to have known you, thanks for being in our lives. <3

My earliest memories of Eldon Johnson was from when as a little girl, he became my "uncle Eldon" as we lived in Africa at the same time, on the same field. Carol.and I were and are good friends and later sisters-in-law. All the ACOP missionaries were our family, often closer than our own families. Some special memories of Uncle Eldon are when he got bitten by a snake and our family drove to keep vigil with his family and Christian belivers at the church. Another particular memory is when he built the terraced yard in Diebougou--we teased him that he was building the great wall of Burkina! He was so intense and it is still holding! I remember the laughter and fun when we all got together but he deeply loved his African family, who along with Aunty Lu, he served well for all his years in Africa and poured his heart into. He was always welcoming and gracious. So Papa Johnson "bien fait".et "au revoir pour maintenant". Say hi to "all the folks in heaven "!

I had known Eldon and Luella through later teens and my bible collage years and when they'd returned from the mission field and were part of the church that I'd grown up in. I have fond memories of Eldon so often coming to visit here at the farm. He would find himself with a project in mind and would ask dad or myself about what he was working on. Always a treat to visit with Eldon and Luella. He'd stay long enough in the afternoons Id catch him saying "I'd better go home or I'll have a hot supper and a cold cook" however that was exactly said. I'd been thinkin of him as of late. And the many visits that he made driving to see us at the farm. Or visits at Trassacks. I think the farm visits started with the repainting of his old Cresida Toyota. I didn't recall exactly when Eldon and Luella came back from the mission field but was shortly after that I had gotten to know the Johnsons and fondly remember the warmth of his charm and character. I was glad for the privilege of his numerous visits. Visiting with Eldon was always a treat. I had remembered when the visits had quit coming as they had when I had discovered that Eldon had been in the Nursing home. Visited with him last year to be amazed that he had hit 97.
