Obituary of Albert Rosom
Albert William Rosom died on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the age of 96.
Albert leaves to mourn his children Marlys, Ardon (Glenda) and Kevin (Cindy) Rosom, all of Regina. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Siobhann (Kurtis) Schroeder of Regina, Shayne (Alyssa) Rosom of Lindsay, Ontario, Austin (Kenzie) Rosom, and Dayton Rosom (Kendall Allin), all of Regina. Albert took special joy in his great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Oakley, Niamh, Fox and Sonny. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Lois (Gillett) Rosom; parents, William and Katherine (nee Revitz) Rosom; and siblings Lena (Adolph) Arndt and Doris Rosom.
Albert was born on August 8, 1927 on his family farm at Davin, SK. He also attended school in Davin. Albert accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior when he was 12 years old, when he attended special meetings in Edenwold, and was baptized soon after in a dam at a neighbour’s farm. Albert’s family attended house churches in the area, until Grace Baptist Church in Davin was completed in 1946. He worked together with his dad on the family farm, until his parents moved to Regina in 1959.
Albert loved singing and playing the guitar, organ, piano, trumpet and harmonica. As a young adult, he toured churches with his sister Doris Rosom in the northern USA, providing music for special meetings.
On October 24, 1959, he married his best friend, Lois Gillett. They farmed at the Rosom family homestead at Davin, SK. Albert and Lois had two large gardens that supplied the family with food, along with the chickens, cattle and pigs that they raised. Albert and Lois loved doing everything together and were rarely seen without each other.
The most important thing in Albert’s life was his faith in Christ. Around 1965, they began attending church at Faith Baptist Church in Regina, as they wanted to have a place that had Sunday School for their children.
In 1996, they moved to Regina. During the last few years of their lives, Marlys moved into an apartment near them to help them to continue to live independently. They moved to William Albert House in Emerald Park, Saskatchewan for the last year, when they needed more care.
Albert was a loving father and took great joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gentleness and sense of humor.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church, 437 Broadway Avenue East,Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship.
