Obituary of Christopher Craig Crowe

Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Chris at the age of 54, on Saturday, August 10, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Chris passed from this world peacefully at home on the Piapot First Nation while in the company of family. Although we will miss him immensely, we are comforted that his pain and suffering has ended.

Chris was predeceased by his partner, Charlene Noname (2011); grandparents, Mushum Ernest Crowe (2004) and Kokum Marion Crowe (2012); and uncles Mervin Crowe (1977) and Dennis Crowe (1992). He also joins his cousins Lisa Crowe (2017), Randy Crowe (2022) and Lucy Crowe (2023).

Chris leaves to mourn his mother, Alvina Crowe; son Chance Noname; brothers Curtis (Tanaya) and Richard Crowe; aunts Anna Crowe (Barry) and Margaret Crowe; uncles Roland (Brenda), Leonard (Lisa) and Brian (Lisa) Crowe; as well as numerous extended family consisting of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Chris enjoyed simple things in life. A good smoke or coffee and conversation with friends and family.  Chris spent a lot of time with his son, Chance, and spoke proudly of his Grade 12 completion. Chris spent his formative years with Kokum and Mushum and alongside his cousin Randy who were affectionately known as “the Bears”. As a youngster, Chris was active in various sports but really enjoyed football and played while attending high school in Regina. He was a bit of an outdoorsmen as he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He would wander through bushes and fields. Well known around the community, you would often find him with various lifelong friends in and around the Piapot First Nation.

You could count on Chris if he gave a commitment. He was loyal to his friends, generous and affectionate with family and a protector to those close to him. He was honest and direct with his view and didn’t sugarcoat his opinions.

Our loss of Chris seems far too soon and will leave us with broken hearts but knowing his suffering has ended and is now in the comfort of relatives. We reflect on happy memories and lifelong lessons.
