Rose Marie Fachet

June 1, 1937 – August 15, 2024

Feast of Assumption of Mary

Rose Marie was born in Saskatoon, SK to parents Adolf and Bertha. Her younger brother, Paul, was born in 1941. Since childhood he wanted to become a Catholic Priest and joined the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and is now living in Saskatoon.

After their father’s death in 1945, Rose Marie, her mother and brother, Paul, moved from their rented farm north of Dundurn to reunite with Fr. Hilland, who was the Pastor of the little country church in Little Britton just outside of Winnipeg, MB. Rose Marie attended school for six months at Little Britton before they packed up and moved to Southey, then to Cupar, where their mom bought a cafe, later known to many, as Bertha’s Cafe. As Rose Marie’s mom and brother, Paul, settled in Cupar, Rose Marie left and began school at Sacred Heart Academy in Regina then moved to Victoria, BC to start Nursing School. Later, she moved to Toronto where she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, mostly in the Sick Children’s ward and with mental health patients. Her gift of drawing (evident in Grade 4 with a drawing of a horse), lead her to follow her dream, and she studied for four years at Toronto Art College. She was currently a member of Prairie Art Guild.

In the mid 80’s, Rose Marie moved back to Regina to be close and care for her mother, she continued to do private nursing and build her spiritual family.

Above all else, Rose Marie was most passionate about her Catholic Faith and was devoted to Our Holy Mother Mary and the daily Mass at her St Mary's Parish. Everyone that knew Rose Marie, can attest to her profound love of the Church and Saints and travelling to many Catholic Pilgrimage Sites and Shrines that strengthened her call to be a Prayer Warrior. She was a wealth of information and she confidently shared with anyone that knowledge – as her spiritual family can attest.

Now she is praying with the saints for all of us.
