Mary Lynne Lapchuk
March 20, 1946 – August 18, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Lynne Lapchuk announces her death on August 18, 2024, at the age of 78 years old.
Lynne was predeceased by her husband, Alex Lapchuk, her parents, Joseph and Mary Caryk (Winnipeg), as well as her mother and father-inlaw Anna and Peter Lapchuk. Lynne is survived by her son Sasha Lapchuk (Wanda); her daughter Tamara Krausher (Ryan) (St. Albert); her cherished grandchildren Anna and Sofia Lapchuk and Paxton Krausher (St. Albert); her sister-in-law Zoya Shmyr; her nieces Kara Garvey (Shmyr) and Lisa Wanner (Kris); and great niece Mila Wanner. Lynne is also survived by her sister Judy Olivier (Brian) (Winnipeg); her nephew, Matthew Urbanowich (Melissa) (Winnipeg); her niece Tara Urbanowich (Kyle Manary) (Winnipeg); and great nieces Emma Fedyk (Winnipeg) and Zoey Urbanowich (Winnipeg), and numerous friends and extended family across Canada.

Lynne was born on March 20, 1946, in Winnipeg, MB, where she went to school, developed a love of sports and was notably immersed in Ukrainian culture (song, music, dance) at the Ukrainian Labour Temple. It was through Lynne’s involvement in Ukrainian culture and her parent’s connection to friends in Regina that Lynne met Alex. They were married on August 29, 1970, in Winnipeg, and resided in Regina. Lynne and Alex were married for 45 years and up to Alex’s death in 2015, they had two children, three wonderful grandchildren and they also remained active in the Ukrainian community. Lynne worked several jobs in Regina and after retirement, she volunteered in various Regina Public Schools, reading with grade one and two students.

Lynne will be remembered as a wonderful cook, chocolatier, gardener, sport and culture enthusiast, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Spending time with her grandchildren, Anna, Sofia and Paxton, brought special joy and contentment for Lynne. She also devoted much of her life to the Regina Branch of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians and the Poltava Ensemble of Song, Music and Dance where she helped with costuming, loved making perogies, and ran the kitchen for various events with her dear friends.

A come and go celebration of Lynne’s life will be held for family and friends on August 24, 2024, between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at 30
