Obituary of Mae Hamilton
Mary Anna Mae Hamilton (née Spicer)
February 18, 1942 – October 17, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Anna Mae Hamilton (née Spicer) announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 82. Mae was born in Choiceland, SK, on February 18, 1942, the third of five children of Cyril and Estella Spicer.
Mae married Gordon Hamilton on January 30, 1960, and together they built a beautiful life in Tisdale, SK, where they raised their four children: Donald, James, Maryann, and Allen. After her children left home, Mae worked for Sears Canada which led her and Gordon to live in Humboldt, SK, and Terrace, BC, before they settled in Regina.
Mae will be lovingly remembered by her brother Lorne (Melva); children Donald, James, Maryann (Brian Richard) and Allen (Marcee). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kristen (Joe Bezdeck) and Matthew (Hayley Griffith); and her three great-granddaughters, Hazel, Harper, and Hattie; as well as all of her extended family and many friends. Mae was predeceased from this world by her husband Gordon; granddaughter Angela; brothers Bob and Don; and sister Grace.
Mae lived a full and active life. She enjoyed curling and bowling, baked and decorated beautiful cakes for weddings and all kinds of special occasions, and had a talent for ceramics. Mae enjoyed spending time gardening and gave back to her community by teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), sharing her warmth and patience with others.
A kind and caring woman with a quiet demeanor, Mae (her door always opened) welcomed everyone into her home with a smile and a cup of coffee. Her family and friends will remember her warmth, generosity and strength.
A Celebration of Mae’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Gateway Church, 1812 Arthur Street, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada in memory of Mae, whose later years were overshadowed by dementia.
