Obituary of Penny Progas

Please share a memory of Penny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Penny was born in Canora, SK, on May 11, 1954, to Steve and Katherine Korol. Penny grew up the oldest of four to her sisters Sharon and Carol and to her brother, Brent. She grew up on the family farm in the Mazeppa area, until which time she moved to the small town of Mikado.

Growing up in this small rural community, she was surrounded by family and friends. These were some of the best years and memories of her life. She was very proud of where she was raised and loved to talk about her time there up until her passing, those memories never faded.

As Penny became a young adult, she eventually moved to Ottawa, Ontario, and then Thompson, Manitoba, where she met her future husband, Bill. After having Treston and Rania, she and Bill decided to get married and move to Regina, SK, where they eventually welcomed their third child, Peter, into their lives.

Penny spent many years raising her children. She enjoyed chasing them around a baseball field, hockey rink or by educating her children with her proud Ukrainian heritage by taking them to Ukrainian dance or language classes.

Penny also spent time helping out in the family restaurant before she moved onto catering and volunteering her time in the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall in Regina. Penny had a passion and love for cooking, no one ever went hungry.

Penny also had a love for reading, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her much loved family.

Penny's love for her children never faded, but nothing compared to being a Baba to Raeden and Mila.

She will be missed by Treston (Vanessa) granddaughter Mila, Rania (Steve) and grandson Raeden, youngest son, Peter, and so many other family members and friends.
