Obituary of Bonnie Virginia Jorgenson

Please share a memory of Bonnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Jorgenson (nee O'Neil) on Thursday October 31, 2024, at the age of 80. Mom passed away peaceful with her husband Calvin by her side. Bonnie was the third child born to Amos and Mary O'Neil and lived in Nut Mountain, SK. She married Calvin Jorgenson from Kelvington and they moved to Regina where mom attended secretarial school. Together they had three daughters. Eventually moving to Balgonie and then to a small acreage outside of Balgonie. Bonnie worked as the secretary at both Balgonie Elementary School and Greenall High School for many years until retirement. It was a job she loved, being surrounded by people and busy with work.

At an early age she had a love for all animals and had many throughout her life, ranging from a common pet like a dog or cat to our pet skunk Pierre and everything in between. She was a natural caretaker of all. There was no animal Mom would turn away, she fostered and nursed many to health. She always had a special place in her heart for horses, she loved to ride and be surrounded with them. Bonnie was blessed with a husband that also loved horses. Later in their life when they were done traveling with their daughters to horse shows and gymkhanas, they were able to pack up their horse trailer with their wagon horses and follow the race circuit. It was a special time in their life. Bonnie was a sports fan and as a grandma she spent a lot of time in cold rinks, football fields, and baseball diamonds cheering on her grandkids, and traveling far and wide for their games. She loved her grandkids and would always welcome their visits and loved to fuss over them from infants to adults. She is famous for her weekend breakfasts that all the kids enjoyed when they had sleepovers. Then it was everyone outside for summer fun of horseback riding or hanging out with whatever animals Grandma had at the time. Winter consisted of sleigh rides, ski-doing and bonfires. Even in the coldest weather, Grandma was always behind the camera capturing the action, all the while managing to have home baked cookies at the ready.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents Amos and Mary O’Neil; brother Larry; brothers-in-law Glen Chambers, Roy Neilson and Ralph Hoy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Calvin Jorgenson; daughter Kelly Jorgenson; granddaughter Nicole (Cal) Nyhus; great-grandchildren Cadence, Clay, Carson and Cort, as well as Dyceson (Veronica) and their children Adalyn and Coy; daughter Tracy (Rick) Havard; granddaughter Lindsay (Jeremey) Youngblood; great-grandchildren Lochlan and Quinn; grandson Ryan Jorgenson; as well as Jeremy (Angela) and their children Caleb, Jaxon and Grace; daughter Cori (Wade) Herauf; grandson Brad (Kyla) Herauf; great-grandsons Levi and Jesse; grandson Mike (Candace) Herauf; great-grandsons Zachary and Wendel; brothers Brian (Beryl) O'Neil and Garth O'Neil; sister-in-law Margret O'Neil; sisters-in-law Clarice Chambers, Thelma Hoy, Joyce Neilson, Evelyn (Cliff) Loree; brother-in-law Russel (Valerie) Jorgenson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Whether as a Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Cousin or Friend, Bonnie will be missed. Although gone from this earth she leaves us all with many beautiful memories and hearts full of love for the time we had with her.

Unfortunately, Mom suffered from the terrible disease of Alzheimer long before we, as her family even knew, she is now at peace in the arms of Jesus.
