Obituary of Mel Brodt

Mel Brodt
Mel passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside.  He left on his journey April 23 from the same hospital he was born in 71 years earlier.  Mel is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Marleen Brodt (nee Sawchuk) and their lovely children... Nanci Brodt, Jeff (Cydney), Jerry (Anita) ....He adored his grandchildren as they did him.....Brodie, Spencer, Noah, Isabel, Jefferson, Zoe and Maxim.  He will be sorely missed by his siblings Ken (Michelle), Sherry (Ken) and Sandy (Ross) and many neices and nephews.  The true measure of ones life remains in our hearts with memories of family outings, parties at gramma Marg & grampa Cons and holidays together usually ending in a rousing loud card game of guts......Mel took no prisoners and was hoarse the next day.  The family loved holidays to the states and went to Wallyworld, San Diego, Mexico, Yellowstone, Blackhills and many border shopping trips during summer holidays......Mel and Marleen went to Hawaii 29 winters and considered buying a condo at one point.....but opted to buy in Victoria BC later. Mel grew up on a family farm near Zehner and moved to Regina for high school.....where he fell in love with his future wife....they married three years later and he started his career at Sask. Power which lasted 31 years ...we as a family bonded with other longtime employees....our kids called them "lifers"  Priceless!!  Mel enjoyed long walks, sport select and biking.  In Mel's memory send a kind thought and blessing to someone struggling today!
