Obituary of Elsa Elizabeth Beeching
ELSA (ELSIE) ELIZABETH BEECHING
April 19, 1914 – April 26, 2017
Elsie passed away peacefully on April 26, 2017 at the age of 103 years. Elsie was born in a sod shack in the Disley District, the 11th of 13 children. Elsie was predeceased by her husband WC (Bill) Beeching; daughter Sylvia Currie; her parents Mathias and Anna Gehl and all of her 12 siblings. Elsie leaves to mourn her son Baz Bradley; son in law Don Currie; grandchildren Sean (Marie) Currie, Sue (Don) Bradley, Brian (Thea) Bradley, Steven (Jenny) Bradley and 8 great grandchildren. By the time she was 18, Elsie had completed high school (Scott Collegiate) and 1 year of Teacher training, teaching for 2 years in Southwest Saskatchewan. During WW2, Elsie worked as a riveter, in the Boeing Aircraft Factory in Vancouver and also worked as a seamstress and a book keeper. She was active in Communist politics and the Peace Movement her entire life. Elsie’s final 8 yrs were spent at Regina Lutheran Home and the family are very grateful for the loving attention and care she received. A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held at a later date.
