Obituary of Wayne Zborosky
~~Wayne Zborosky
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that Wayne’s family announces his sudden passing on October 17, 2017 at the age of 74.
Born Wayne Francis Zborosky in Lestock, Saskatchewan on August 16, 1943, he was predeceased by his father, Daniel Zborosky, his step-father, Tony Herauf, and his brothers-in-law, Ron Hill and Keith Leitch.
Wayne is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sharon (Burrell), and their three children and families: Danny (Leane) and children, Jessa and Zak; Angela (Darcy Flaman) and children Jaxon and Noah; and Carmen (Shayne) Yasinski. Wayne is also survived by his mother, Martha Herauf, his brother Lynn (Debbie) Herauf, his sisters Leona (Terry) Howe, Leta (Terry) Flaman, Connie Herauf (Phillippe Bourque), Diane Leitch, Doreen (Dave) Ralston and Joyce (Vince) Mann, and Sharon’s brothers, Boyd (Shirley) Burrell, Bud Burrell, and Bill (Judy) Burrell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Wayne’s stature may have earned him the nickname “Big Z,” but it was his huge heart, his abundant sense of humor, his sensitive nature and his gentle presence that gave real meaning to that name.
Wayne had a real gift for connecting with people, whether it was through a casual conversation with someone at the hockey rink, while giving advice to a client, or through the more personal discussions he had with his family members and close friends. He connected with you through your own passions and interests, making you feel like you had your own unique and special relationship with him.
Wayne will be fondly remembered as an entertainer. As a rich story-teller, he captured your attention. He also shared his passion for music and camaraderie by singing and playing his guitar at get-togethers. Some of the best times were those spent with family and friends at the cottage he built for his family at Good Spirit Lake, playing his music around the campfire, with Sharon by his side and one of his canine companions at his feet.
Wayne had a fierce pride in his grandchildren, wanting only to support them and encourage them to take their own path, follow their dreams and achieve their goals.
Wayne leaves his family with so many good stories and memories of love, laughter and time spent together.
Wayne grew up in Raymore and Odessa, Saskatchewan. He obtained a civil engineering diploma through STI in Moose Jaw. After working for several years at PFRA and SaskTel in Regina, he has spent the last 25 years as a financial advisor, most recently with Investia Financial Services.
Wayne shared many of his passions and interests with his family: his love of sports with Danny, his love of books with Ang, his love of animals with Carm, and most of all, his love of music with Sharon. Wayne also enjoyed collecting guitars, wood working and building projects, attending concerts and music festivals, spending time at the cottage, searching for that perfect sangria with his granddaughter, travelling around western Canada to watch his three grandsons play hockey, and just hanging out with the dogs, Diego and Chewy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5020 7th Avenue, Regina, SK with Fr. John Weckend as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Guardian Angel Animal Rescue (in care of Carmen Yasinski, Box 1751, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, S3N 3L4) or Diabetes Canada.
