Obituary of Frederick Gessell

Frederick Gessell 1932 – 2015 Fred Gessell passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the age of 83. He was born in Dilke, SK on July 15, 1932. He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Caroline Gessell, siblings: Arthur Gessell, William Gessell, Freida Budd, Patricia Gustilov, Clara Gustilov, Elizabeth Wolbaum. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Lea; son Larry Gessell; daughters Karen (Gary) Balaberda, Darlene (Tom) Spence, Marlene Chessall; granddaughters Megan Chessall and Nichole Chessall (Jesse); and great-grandson Jaxson Perrin. He is also survived by three brothers Clarence, John, and Allan Gessell; two sisters Irene Stewart and Mary Schuette and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred’s career spanned over 45 working years in the trucking industry, retiring in 1995. Fred worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was recognized with many safety awards over the years, with his highest achievement driving two million miles accident free. Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He especially enjoyed spending timing with his granddaughters and loved listening to Hank Snow, his favorite country artist, on many Saturday evenings. Heartfelt thanks Dr. R.L. Patel for his compassionate care through the years. The family would like to extend gratitude to the nurses from the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK with Father Jose Periyilkatte as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital.
