Obituary of June Holter
HOLTER, June (Joan) Patricia
It’s with sadness that we announce the passing of a fiercely independent lady. Mom passed away on March 21, 2018, at the Wascana Grace Hospice, Regina, SK surrounded by love. Mom will be missed and remembered fondly by her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents John Joseph Maier and Seneta (Sawchuk) Maier and her husband Robert (Bob) Holter. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her loving children; Kathy-Lynn (K-L) Holter, Patti-Lynn Holter (Walter Howor), Bonnie-Lynn Holter and Timothy Holter (Erika) and her six grandchildren Robert, Rhianna-Lynn, Kimberley, Luciano, Marciano, and Skye, her sister Victoria Chuhaniuk and nieces and nephews.
Mom was an avid quilter and over the past several years shared many projects with her family and friends. Mom was many things to many people, a mental health care advocate - having volunteered right up to her last few months caring for others, a shrewd business lady and to some “the Hot Dog Lady” because of her late-night hot dog stand adventures of years past. Education was so important to Mom that she went back to school as an adult and strongly encouraged all of us to go to university as well. She was never one to shy away from doing new things and had many careers throughout her life - the air force, banking, working at a farm software company and cutting down trees with her husband Bob to name only a few.
In her retirement she stayed active, volunteering and supporting causes she believed in, traveling to Mexico most winters, going to the theatre, spending time with great friends and most recently her latest experiment of gardening... needless to say her friends were inundated with carrots and zucchinis! Mom instilled in her children a love of reading and family games nights, which they now enjoy with their own families and will continue to do so for many years to come. She also loved her community and having lived in Pilot Butte, SK for over 45 years, she took as many opportunities as she could to be involved (Book Club anyone?!).
Wanting to stay in her community, she will be resting peacefully in St. George’s Cemetery in Pilot Butte. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Ave., Regina, SK.
In lieu of flowers let’s support the causes that Mom felt most strongly about. Please donate to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
