Obituary of Irene Basky

BASKY, Irene (nee Daku)

Irene passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the age of 101. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon; parents Andrew and Lydia; siblings Bill (Magdelin), Grace (Elek), Andrew (Helen), Margaret (Charles), Steve, Joe and Kalman. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children Allan (Eva), Victor (Karen), Gordon (Doris), Ed (Lorie) and Donna; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brother Gordon; sisters in law Shirley, Kay and Irene as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Irene was the fourth child of Andrew and Lydia Daku. Her first job was working in the Kipling Hospital. Irene started in 1960 and became a cook supervisor in 1968, retiring in 1983. She was very musical, playing the accordion, autoharp, guitar, chord organ and the piano. Vocally, Irene sang in the choir and did duets. She could also be found doing beautiful instrumental numbers. Irene was very active her church helping wherever she was needed. She would also be found doing visitations with those who could not leave their home. A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Kipling Rec Centre, Kipling, SK. Interment will follow in the Kipling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene’s memory may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Kipling, SK or Kipling Integrated Health Centre – Long Term Care.
