Obituary of Gladys Edna Watt

Gladys passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, January 4, 2019 at the age of 84 years old, at the Regina General Hospital. She was born in Weyburn, SK on January 27, 1934 to her parents George & Pearl Cripps (deceased). Gladys was the middle of 3 siblings. Her older sister was Dorothy Bix (husband Marvin, both deceased) and her younger brother Henry Cripps (wife Ruth) of St. Albert, AB. Gladys was raised in Wolseley, SK where she met and married Ted Watt of Sintaluta, SK on November 24, 1954. They initially resided on the Watt family farm outside of Sintaluta before moving into Regina, SK in 1956 where they lived for the next 62 years. They both moved into The Bentley assisted living facility in December, 2015 where they have enjoyed the wonderful staff, meals and amenities. Gladys is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Ted and their children – David Watt (Sharmane), Heather Watt, and Gordon Watt (Christine Kelly). Also survived by grandchildren Adam Watt (Catherine), Jaida Rybchynski (Kirk), Daniel Watt, Allan Kelly-Watt, Matthew Kelly-Watt (Breanna), Robert Kelly-Watt and Sean Kelly-Watt. Five great-grandchildren Amelia & Elon; Edward, Alexander & Cassandra, as well as cousins, brother / sister in laws, nieces and nephews. Gladys had worked as a telephone operator in Wolseley, than when they moved into Regina, she worked in the Provincial Education Dept. With the arrival of children she was a devoted mother and housewife. Later on, she would take part-time work during Federal censuses. Gladys volunteered with the UCW at Lakeview United Church, Government House Historical Society, and the Old Timer’s Association. Gladys belonged to the Lakeview United Church Hobby Group, couples club and square dancing as well as the Civil Service Bowling league. Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Ave., Regina, SK with social and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys' memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
