Obituary of Leon Kostiuk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather Leon Kostiuk, on Saturday, February 9 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his son Jerry and great granddaughter, Laura; parents, Dumitru (Mike) and Domnica (Nettie); brothers Bill and Nick; sisters, Jean, Freda, Eva and Laura; Leon is lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Hannah; daughter; Joan (Terry) Cobler and granddaughters, Penny (Rod) Syrnyk and Patrice (Mark) Easton; daughter, Charlene (Bill) Makelki and grandson,  Cory (Holly) Makelki; son, Ronald (Karen) Kostiuk; grandchildren, Jerry’s children, Michael (April) and Jessica (Tom); great grandchildren, Tayler (Megan), Chelsey(Matt), Quinn (Erica),Garrett, Logan, Nyah, Vayda,  and great-great grandsons Blake &  Levi; sisters Mary Stann and Gloria (Bill) Krasiun, as well as many nieces and nephews. Leon was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.  Leon was a very hard worker and spent the majority of his life farming near Southey. He was a great curler in his younger days and was an avid “sports” father cheering on his children in their sports activities including softball, hockey and curling. He loved farm life, animals and the great outdoors and was still out in the tractor and on the combine in his mid eighties. A Private Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held.
