Obituary of Dolores Tucker

Please share a memory of Dolores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother on Thursday, February 14, 2019. She passed away peacefully at the Regina Pioneer Village after a long and difficult journey with dementia.

Dolores was predeceased by her parents Phillip and Marie, and her brother Don Sweitzer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Laura (Jim) Anderson of Calgary and Lisa (Andrew) Hak and grandchildren Nathaniel and Meagen of Regina; brother Ralph Sweitzer of Calgary and sister Marilyn (Bill) Olson of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dolores was born and raised in Regina, attending Wascana elementary school and Balfour Collegiate. Dolores was married in 1961 and was a stay at home Mom while the girls were young. She did, however, work part time in the evenings at the Queen City drive-in theatre and the race track at Exhibition Park. When the girls were of school age, Dolores went back to work fulltime. She worked as a bank teller at Sage Credit Union for a few years and then moved on to work as an accounting clerk at the Regina Public School Board for 26 years, from which she retired in 2003.

Dolores’ happiest moments during retirement were when she spent time with her two grandchildren, whom she loved to dote on. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Mbanza, nurses, staff and volunteers of Regina Pioneer Village for Dolores’ care over for the past three and a half years. A Come and Go Tea, to celebrate Dolores’ life, will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in the basement of Broadway United Church at 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina.

Donations may be made in Dolores' memory to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
