Obituary of Dorothea Anna Marie Herauf
It is with sadness the family announces Dora’s peaceful passing on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Palliative Care unit in Pasqua Hospital, Regina. She is survived by her loving husband of over 61 years, Wilfred; children Simon, Joe (Lisa), Dorothy (Steven) and Lorraine (Jeff); grandchildren Donald, Stephanie, Sean, Rachel, Katie, Nicole, Michael and Anna; great-grandchildren Oliver, Theodore and Edison; brother Gerard (Theresa); sister Mientje (Cor) as well as numerous extended family members in Canada and the Netherlands. Dora was predeceased by her son Randy Herauf; grandsons Theodore and Alexander Gittens as well as seven siblings. Dora immigrated to Canada in 1954 at the age of 27. She practiced as a Registered Nurse at the Grey Nuns hospital for several years until she got married in 1957 and moved on to the farm near Kronau. This is where she spent many years raising a family and participating in the church and community. Dora and Wilfred moved into Regina in 1992 where she continued to be an active member of the church choir. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening and looking after grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all. We especially wish to thank the staff from Home Care, and the nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital who provided comfort and loving care in her final months. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Resurrection R.C. Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019. Those so wishing to make donations in memory of Dora may do so to St. Peter’s Heritage Society, Box 154, Kronau, SK, S0G 2T0.
